Life Update & Fulbright: New Communication from KAEC

It’s been a while, huh? I’ve been much busier than I anticipated, both trying to get my life together enough to fly off to another country in January and seeing as many friends and family members as possible. As an introvert, it’s been rough, but I’m thankful to have all of my friends and family relatively close.

Even if normally I wouldn’t have more than one or two social plans a week, I’ve been seeing people more often than that. I don’t always love it, but I want to spend as much time as I can with people. This isn’t necessarily related to the topic of the blog, or even to Fulbright (other than it being the reason for my sudden social activity). I’m even planning a trip to Boston to visit a friend out there before I leave in January!

Now onto the actual news; on August 28th, I received an email from the Fulbright Korean-American Educational Commission (KAEC). It contained some of the next documents I needed to sign and turn in. After so long without hearing anything, this felt a little like a shock to my system. Suddenly, moving to Korea in about 4 months feels a lot more real. Of course, it wasn’t everything, and there’s still a lot more to do.

I’m still waiting on the KAEC to approve the documents I turned in, but since I submitted everything pretty late on the 30th (a Friday) I don’t expect to hear anything back until it’s a weekday in Korea.

The email and documents didn’t necessarily contain new information, so nothing came as much of a surprise. It did confirm that I need a flu vaccine dated after September 1st, so I made an appointment to get that done now that I had the go-ahead.

I suppose this post isn’t as informational, and I plan to make a much more detailed post about everything and the process of filling out documents in the future. I just wanted to start slow to get back in the swing of (attempting) to update this blog semi-regularly.

In other news, I’ve been working a lot, which is tiring on top of seeing friends and family so often, but I’m glad to have something that makes the days pass by quickly. Crossing my fingers for the next four month to also go by in a flash!

Until next time.
